| So today started out as a good day... Got finished with classes early, so I came home to take care of some Z-related items.
- Finally swapped out my useless hatch struts for my new 125lb McMasters - work like a charm. - Made the switch to synthetic Mobil 1 15W50 - bye bye lifter tick, hello useful additives. - Changed my differential fluid - mmm, yummy. Then, sitting in my room, I looked over at my lonely Stillen GTZ lip, just sitting in the corner. So I made a list, and headed down to Home Depot for some 3M adhesive, urethane prep, sandpaper, and primer. After scouring the store for rivets (unsuccessful), I check out and begin on my merry way back to the Z. After only 10 minutes in the store, I walk out to find THIS:
!!!!!!
Two other cars got hit - an EVO and some SUV.
Upon striking the glass, they smacked the A-pillar, chipping the paint and denting it. They PRIED off my stereo's face plate - instead of hitting the "release" button. In doing so, they bent the **** out of the bezel, as well as the mechanical "arms" that raise and lower the faceplate. I managed to bend them back to a seemingly OK position...was a $500 Clarion unit, hope I can find a faceplate for cheap and take care of that. Kind of pissed, just bought the CD that was in there, hadn't ripped it to the PC yet :( The part that I just don't get is this: They opened the glovebox and center console, removed the following - Valentine One radar, EZ Pass, hunting knife, dozens of CDs, 8.5 MP Sony camera, and a Leatherman - and left them all on the FLOOR!!! F*cking punk Philly kids, being little ****s, I imagine. lol...these people are just getting dumber and dumber - when will people realize that RIPPING OFF A FACEPLATE will not yield any significant return??? *sigh* The irony of it all: I was getting raped by State Farm, and so I switched to GEICO, saving me 60%. However, I did not yet sign up for comprehensive. Money's kind of tight right now, and I was going to wait until next month to get my finances in order, add more coverage. Soooo...it's all out-of-pocket. The cop who came for the report would have been MINT if I could have filed a claim - she estimated it @ like $1200 damage! I managed to make it to a salvage yard this afternoon, find some glass for $125. I began removing my door panel when I got home, but upon peering down the window glass cavity, I'm leaving this to a professional. So that was my day. Oh, and I just found out that my roommates and I have been paying the gas bill for the entire apartment building (six 1-3 BR apartments)!!!!! Calling the landlord in the morning and demanding reimbursement. Fun fun. That's all for now, I suppose. I've got my sexy OEM car cover protecting my baby tonight, hopefully I can get an appointment in the morning to get some glass on there.
Talked with the guy who did my tint (Shades of Gray - Philadelphia's exclusive Llumar dealer), going to try to call again tomorrow and kiss ass tomorrow to get that done, too.
